From scratch how much does it cost. I have the oppurtunity to do property management in Los Angeles but don’t have a license (which i have to get) but I am pretty poor right now.
also how long would it take? to take all the classes etc. I already have a BS in economics but just need to be able to get the license.
Thanks in advance,
Justin
the cost to get a real estate license while located in any city
in the US, is rather similar–the app is about $75 for sales people,
the school is about $150 for a private school, and the test is about
$75.
Takes about 3 weeks to attend all the classes. YOU must pass
the school test first and NEVER try to do that course work
on line.
the tests are scheduled about every week of the year.
WHILE you are preparing, call property management firms
or real estate companies. IF you only want to do PM,
a PM can hire you. [small salary or commission per
unit sold--while working under a broker or in some
cases no broker--salaried people need no broker if hired
by a PM firm]

Ok so I’m only 14 but I would like to follow a career as a realestate agent. I have a family friend how is a realestate agent but haven’t seen her for a while so I have not been able to ask her for a while.
So I would like to know how much they make?
I’m pretty sure that they would get 5% of every house they sell, is that true.
And what does a realestate agent really do…
Real estate agents enter the profession from all walks of life. Some become a real estate agent for the money, while others are attracted to the glamor, excitement and challenges of selling property. For many, a real estate career offers the opportunity to be your own boss, and that reason is a motivating factor for those who want to get out from under the thumb of corporate America.
How Much Does an Average Real Estate Agent Earn?
Most first-year real estate agents earn very little, primarily because they are struggling to learn the business while they build a client base. As the years go by, agents can rely on referrals from satisfied clients to continue building their business.
According to Salary.com, most real estate agents earn on average between $34,000 and $45,000 annually.
How much agents make depends on the number of transactions they complete, the commission paid to the brokerage and their split with the sponsoring broker.

not sure how i should approach the situation if its wise to rent directly through owner? Any info, tips or experiences would be much appreciated. Am going to arrange to inspect but not sure what i should and shouldnt ask, how do i know they are decent people as the granny flat is attached to the house. Any tips please! Its for me and my daughter so i want to make sure its safe.
Make sure you get a receipt for every payment you make and keep it.
Legally if you pay a bond the landlord must submit it to the State Rental Bond board which is usually part of the Dept of Fair Trading in your State.
Not that it really matters though,as long as you get a receipt for any payments you make to him.
Obviously check to see if the place is clean, check to see what sort of people the owners are,is there beer cans lying around etc.
Do they look ok,does the surroundings look ok.
Do they have pets that could disturb you,big dogs etc.
Is there enough privacy for you and your daughter ?
Look at where the windows are,is there curtains, where are the windows facing?
If you have a car, where can you park it?
Ask if there is a bond ?
How about rent, how many weeks in advance ?
Do they want you to sign a lease, then in that case your bond must be submitted to the State rental board.
How long notice do you have to give to move out ?
Is the electrcity a separate bill ?
Is there any other expenses or just the rent ?
Where is the laundry ?
What about clothes line?
Now,if you pay a bond, usually 4 weeks rent, then you should note and get the owner to sign it,ANY damage ,such as stains on carpets, etc.
Having said all that, its far better you go with a polite friendly attitude rather than be distrustful of them, because they are probaly sussing you out more and more worried who they are going to get living behind there house.
